NRSW Full course Operative and Supervisor

New road and street works are everywhere across the UK, keeping our roads safe and traffic moving. In addition, they play a significant role in the supply chain to keep deliveries and haulage moving and maintain our constant supply of living basics like gas and electricity. However, street and new road works can be dangerous to the untrained operative and those working and walking around them, especially hotlay tarmac. This kind of asphalt work is no trivial pursuit, with toxic fumes and temperatures way above boiling to contend with. As such, with so much reliance on quality, time, and safety of our roads and infrastructure, the works are subject to legislation that provides a compulsory framework for new roads and street works activities.

The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) sets out objectives to:

  • Ensure safety

  • Minimise inconvenience to people using a street

  • Reduce inconvenience to people with a disability

  • Protect the structure of the road and the apparatus in it

This Certification and Assessment Board for the Water Industry (CABWI) certification delivers the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding of New Roads & Street Works for Operatives (Units 1, 2 – 7 + 9/ LA, 01 – 06 + 08) – inc. Hotlay Tarmac. It is primarily aimed at operatives who carry out excavation activities as part of their role in street works.

In-House Training

If you’re looking to train a group of employees then in-house training could be the perfect solution.

We offer in-house training to allow colleagues from the same company to attend a training course together.

Instead of booking spaces on an existing public course, an in-house course is arranged specifically for your organisation which gives you more flexibility over the date and location you’d like your training to take place.

The number of delegates that can attend an in-house course will depend on the course and the awarding body requirements, but it’s often beneficial to consider an in-house course if you’re looking to train five delegates or more.
